Territory Limits &
Oil Company Threats
PROTECTING the jungle for all of humanity.
The Sapara territory is facing threats from the oil company, PlusPetrol, causing confusion and tension among local communities regarding territorial limits and forest protection. The division that's been created by the entry of this company makes it easier for extractive companies like PlusPetrol, to gain access to the territory and extract oil and other resources crucial for the forest's conservation.
The extraction of oil and natural resources is not just a threat to the indigenous communities, but to all of us. That's why indigenous communities like the Sapara Nation are committed to protecting the forest and keeping these resources underground.PlusPetrol has already been operating in Bloque 10 since 2019. They are trying to expand their drilling in other parts of the territory, using the excuse that nobody lives there to gain more access. As Sapara people, we want to emphasize that we must protect the jungle not just for ourselves, but for all humanity. It's time to unite and find a different approach to evolve as a global community, instead of fighting against one another.
The jungle represents a world without corruption, where we can commune with spirits and live in harmony with nature and the spiritual world. It connects us all and generates water that expands throughout the world, providing clean and fresh air.Our planet is changing, and we must slow down the process of destruction to recalibrate and prepare for this change. Let's work together to protect the jungle and create a better future for all.

oUR PLAN TO UNITE
We’re organizing a large gathering with members of the communities affected by PlusPetrol, as well as leaders from other Indigenous communities and organizations so we can have true dialogue and make united decisions about the territory limits and how to continue protecting the forest. We’re hoping to conduct this meeting in early May and need to raise $20,000 USD to make it happen, as we’ll be flying in many community members from different territories of the Amazon.
We need your help to make it happen!
Do this now:
1. Donate! The most important support right now is financial. Please donate whatever you’re able to.
2. Share about this situation with your network via social media, email and word of mouth. The easiest way is to share one of the recent posts on Manari’s Instagram.
3. Send a letter to PlusPetrol. Click here to access a template of the letter & instructions on how to send it.
We’ll continue sharing updates via @manariushigua’s instagram!
